My most memorable moment from the German occupation

A moment that sticks in my memory is the day when the Germans left our territories.

The sun rose red, and its bloody glow reflected against [?] the sky. It was a prophecy of the defeat of the Germans. In the morning they were fleeing along all roads [?].

Planes circled over the escaping troops, striking the Germans with bullets from machine guns and cannons.

The Germans, seeing that they suffered great losses in people and horses [?], understood that it was impossible to go any further. Then, in great haste, they hauled cannons and heavy machine guns up the hills and began firing at the planes. Then one of them got hit in the tail, and coming down over the German cars, it spread fire over them.

One bullet hit the ammunition carrier. Then all the missiles and bullets exploded. At noon [?] the bridge over the river was blown up. We were all in the basement when the bridge was blown up. In the afternoon, only the cars and the infantry moved along the road. At the very end of the column the Germans drove the cattle taken from the village.

The evening was peaceful, only a few more cars arrived and it was quiet.

[missing]

The next morning, the Russians moved along the same roads that the Germans had used the previous day during their escape.

This is my most memorable moment from the German occupation.
