WŁADYSŁAW STACHURA

Kielce, 31 July 1948, 2.00 p.m. Marian Poniewierka from the Citizens’ Militia Station in Kielce, on the instruction of the Prosecutor from the District Court in Kielce, with the participation of court reporter Stefan Młodawski, heard the person named below as a witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 140 of the Penal Code, the witness testified as follows:

Name and surname Władysław Stachura
Parents’ names Franciszek and Florentyna, née Grychowska
Date of birth 22 February 1909
Place of birth Kielce
Religious affiliation Roman Catholic
Occupation enamel technician
Place of residence Kielce, Nowy Świat Street 24

During the occupation I worked in Huta Ludwików [a foundry] at the rolling mill.

I know that the camp was established in 1943 and closed in August 1944. There were two camps: the one in the factory was for the Jews, and the other by the railway line was for the Russian prisoners of war.

On average, there were some 500 prisoners in both camps. During its period of operation, the number of prisoners in the camp didn’t change. Upon liquidation of the camp, the prisoners were deported in an unknown direction.

The prisoners (only Jews) worked in Huta Ludwików, and the Russian prisoners of war worked only in the German Kraftfahrpark. The prisoners were poorly fed.

There was an infirmary in the camp. The prisoners received medical assistance. As for the death rate, it was about 15 people.

There were executions by shooting and hanging in the camp. The prisoners were treated rudely and harassed. The killed were buried outside the factory premises.

The Germans didn’t leave any material evidence.

I don’t know the surnames of the people who were imprisoned in the camp.

As for the Germans, I know the surnames of Mack and Szop, but I don’t know any others.
