JÓZEFA ZWIERZYŃSKA

On 10 January 1948, in Bodzentyn, Investigative Judge Tadeusz Nyga from the Investigation Department of Citizens’ Militia in Kielce, with the participation of reporter Stanisław Salwa, interviewed the person named below as an unsworn witness. Having advised the witness of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as of the significance of the oath, the judge took an oath from her, after which the witness testified as follows:

Name and surname Józefa Zwierzyńska
Age 50
Parents’ names Franciszek and Wiktoria
Place of residence Bieliny
Occupation Smith’s wife
Religious affiliation Roman Catholic
Criminal record none
Relationship to the parties none, mother to her murdered son Bronisław

On 9 March [19]44, in the morning, they started knocking on the door. When I opened the door, they were [standing] with their weapons at the ready and said they came for the partisan; they made for the bed at once and started a search, and when my son got dressed they took him away. When they took [my son] away, they immediately told [him? us?] to lie down face down, while they went for the others. And [then] they took them all to the site of the murder, killed them all right away, and we buried them in that yard. I didn’t recognize the perpetrators.

At this point, I conclude my testimony and sign the above as a faithful report after having it read out to me.
