Opatów, 18 May 1946. The Municipal Court in Opatów, in the person of Judge Al. Zalewski, with the participation of court reporter R. Cybulski, heard the person named below as an unsworn witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the witness testified as follows:

During the German occupation I served as secretary of Lasocin commune in Opatów district. By virtue of my profession I frequently came into contact with Stabsleiter Herman Wuzowski, who supervised the delivery of compulsory supplies. He was hostile and ruthless towards the Polish populace. Those farmers who did not manage to deliver compulsory supplies in the amount or time prescribed were subjected to severe repressions. In the neighboring commune of Julianów, Wuzowski introduced other repressive measures: he evicted some people from their farms and beat many of my friends who also worked as clerks. It was on his order that I was beaten with clubs by Schupo officers for the improper execution of decrees issued by the German authorities. Wuzowski’s successor, Modelski, a man of Polish origin, wasn’t that cruel, but he was equally unrelenting when it came to the delivery of compulsory quotas. He complied fully – and mercilessly – with German regulations in this regards, thus acting to the detriment of the Polish nation.
