1. Date and place of execution:

17 June 1940

2. Type of execution (shooting, hanging, etc.):

Shooting.

3. Personal data of the murdered victims: Poles only.

Poles, Jews, foreigners: Poles.

Number of murdered victims: Approximately 80 people.

The victims were brought in from: the prison in Sandomierz.

Surnames, ages, occupations, addresses:

Surnames as well as other personal data are unknown, all that is known is that the victims were young men. A page torn out from a prayer book and containing the following words was found at the execution site: “Edward Szczygieł”.

4. Is it known what the victims were accused of, whether the execution was carried out in retaliation, etc.?

As far as it is known, the victims were condemned to death by the Gestapo for belonging to Polish clandestine organizations.

5. Who carried out the execution (gendarmes, Gestapo men, SS men, policemen, the Wehrmacht)?

A special unit of the gendarmerie.

6. Are the surnames of the perpetrators known (provide the surnames if known)?

Unknown.

7. Were the corpses burnt or destroyed otherwise?

The corpses were buried at the execution site. In the spring of 1944, a special unit arrived at the execution site. The corpses were uncovered and burned.

8. Where were the corpses buried (provide the exact location)?

In the woods of Góry Wysokie, in two large graves, which were levelled and masked.

9. Description of the place of burial (graves, dimensions, estimated number of victims buried in one grave):

Each grave was about 5 meters long and 2 meters wide. About 40 people were buried in each grave.

10. Were the corpses exhumed, were they officially reinterred (report)? If “yes” to the latter, then where?

In March 1944 the Germans uncovered the graves, took out the corpses and burned them.

11. Are there any grounds for conducting their exhumation in the future?

There aren’t any.

On 14 September 1945, the contents of the above questionnaire were officially confirmed by the head of Dwikozy commune, Stanisław Majewski, with the Municipal Court in Sandomierz.
