WŁODZIMIERZ BLIŹNIAŃSKI

(Translated from Russian)

5 October 1993

I, Włodzimierz Bliźniański, son of Samuel, resident of the town of Pruzhany, Brest Region, the Republic of Belarus (identity document [...], issued by the Department of the Interior of the Pruzhany Regional Executive Committee, Brest Region [...]) declare that Mikołaj Łowkiewicz, son of Jan, born on 12 January 1927 in the town of Ruzhany, Brest Region, saved my father Samuel Bliźniański, son of Salomon, resident of the town of Ruzhany, Pruzhany Raion, Brest Region, from death in November 1942 during the Nazi occupation.

Samuel Bliźniański, son of Salomon, was a Jew. In November 1942 the Germans chased the Jews out of Ruzhany and into the town of Vawkavysk. Seven or eight days after the Jews had been chased out, Samuel Bliźniański secretly returned to his abandoned home at Nadbrzeżna Street in the town of Ruzhany.

Mikołaj Łowkiewicz, son of Jan, provided him with food, saving him from death. Later, Mikołaj Łowkiewicz, who was a member of the resistance, helped Samuel Bliźniański join the Ponomarenko brigade – the Kirov unit (a partisan unit). Samuel Bliźniański died in 1978.

I know all of the above from my father.

Włodzimierz S. Bliźniański
