Memories of German crimes
One time, the German gendarmes surrounded our village and carried out a so-called round- up. They brought a lot of weapons, including a turret. They came to our house and searched it, and when they did not find anything, other gendarmes came and established a radio station. At that moment, two men were brought in. They were beaten with rifle butts by the fence and interrogated. [The Germans] did not learn anything, so the men were taken to the field and murdered. The Germans caught a lot of people fleeing to the forest, placed them on the car and took them in an unknown direction. In the evening, the round-up was over. The Germans got into their cars and drove to Starachowice, where they interrogated the people they had caught. Some of them were released, while others were taken for forced labor and to concentration camps.
