My memories of German crimes

I remember many crimes that the occupiers committed in our country. However, the one I remember best is the one I witnessed.

One evening I was walking with my mom when I noticed several Poles surrounded by gendarmes. The gendarmes had their guns at the ready. The Germans ordered the Poles to kneel down; then I heard shots and several dead bodies fell to the ground. People who were watching the scene from their windows and various hiding places were overcome with grief.

Then the bodies of those killed were put on carts standing next to the church wall, taken to a nearby garden and buried in a common grave. To this day, the graves of the murdered are covered with flowers and candles.
